Offer: Strategic Urban Designer:FuelAgencyJob description:Job DescriptionIt is an exciting time here at Whangarei District Council as our district continues to grow. We are continuously working to make Whangarei a vibrant, thriving and attractive place for our communities and our visitors. To help us achieve this outcome We are seeking for a resourceful Urban Designer to champion urban design in our plans and strategies which will guide the development of our district at a time of major growth.You will work within a dedicated Strategic Planning team who have a great and varied work programme. As an integral member of this team you will offer design support by leading the development of spatial plans and master plans for key urban and rural locations across the District. This will involve identifying urban design issues and leading consultation with significant stakeholders to develop and create practical solutions. Combined with this you'll take responsibility for: » Developing clear concise plans that deliver high quality design results for the district. » Collaborating with the wider organisation to see the implementation plans. » Delivering professional advice and research to Council on urban design matters and support a design-led approach to decision making. » Generating graphics and presentation material for design related plans and projects. » Ensuring that all urban design solutions are the right ?fit' for the District. To take advantage of this unique opportunity you'll be required to demonstrate the following attributes: » capability to develop strong working relationships and to work effectively as part of a team. » Degree level qualification in urban design, landscape design or architecture. » Previous practice in an urban design function (desirable but not essential). » Effective written, verbal and visual communication expertise. » capability to provide high-quality and significant technical urban design advice. » Well-developed research and analytical expertise. » A flexible and open-minded approach to achieving team objectives. » A positive outlook and a can-do approach for Council and its customers. » Demonstrated capability to generate concepts, sketches, plans, perspective renders and similar. » practice using design software such as Sketchup and Adobe Creative suite.
