The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership abilities to New Zealand’s distributed emergency management system. NEMA’s primary focus is on the performance and capcapability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Reporting to the Team Leader, Financial Assurance we have a great opportunity in our Regional Partnership Unit. This is a busy and varied function where you will help to review and evaluate our claims, assist in enquires from local authorities, other eligible organisations and help to process applications. In this Advisor function you will be given hands on mentoring from more practiced team members to enable growth and lgain how we operate as a Government agency. This is a great function for a confident candidate with an accounting or finance degree or with a few years’ practice knowing the basics of finance.
Key requirements of the function include;
   » Help support our claims management process to ensure accurate and consistency of information
   » Support the team in dealing with customer queries and be responsive to claim results in a timely manner
   » Assist in generating reports and information to help us in the decision-making process
   » Bring a flexible and agile approach with strong attention to detail and excellent time management expertise
   » A keen interest in the workings of our team to understand and build relationships with our stakeholders and ensure a smooth and robust claims process
   » Demonstrated capability to think on your feel and apply expertise in a practical environment
   » Strong analytical expertise with an aptitude to lgain reporting
   » A talent for multi-tasking and a availability to “go the extra mile”

Due to the security requirements of this function, candidates must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident.
Working for NEMA comes with some additional compensateing activities aligned to your skill set. In the event of a national emergency response, such as the current response to Cyclone Gabrielle there will be a requirement to provide rostered support. An emergency response of national significance allows you and your colleagues to practice working as a cohesive team, at pace, often in an environment of ambiguity, in the heart of theNational Crisis Management Centre.
