Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?maki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Gallery’s vision is to be the home of art for Auckland, its people and visitors to its internationally recognised award-winning building. Established in 1888, the Gallery holds a preeminent collection of New Zealand art and a significant collection of international art, and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement and learning practices.
We are partnering with Te Papa to deliver the Raranga Matihiko programme, as part of the Ministry of Education's Digital Technologies for All Equity Fund. The Equity Fund supports the introduction of new digital technologies learning for all schools and kura across Aotearoa. Raranga Matihiko delivers innovative digital technologies to those with limited digital learning opportunities, while increasing access to national and local exhibitions and collections. all over the programme, students solve real-world problems, while enriching their knowledge of their communities and regions.
The Gallery Educator, Raranga Matihiko (Pacific engagement) is responsible for facilitating innovative learning practices through engagement with Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?maki collections and exhibitions. We are seeking for an engaging and inspiring person who is the right fit – training in Raranga Matihiko will be provided. The Gallery Educator, Raranga Matihiko (Pacific engagement) contributes to learning programmes across multiple disciplines and leads delivery of programmes in English and in support of Pacific perspectives (identity, language and culture).
He k?rero m?u: About you
You will be a passionate and talented teacher or kaiako who engages learning and technology to make a real difference to the school communities you work with. You will be practiced in creating and delivering innovative, learner-centric, significant and measurable learning practices for primary-aged students. The Gallery Educator, Raranga Matihiko utilises innovative technologies to create transformative learning practices and products at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?maki for diverse audiences. You are collaborative and engaging and committed to promoting a Pacific world view through creative, curriculum-linked learning practices.
You will have:
   » A bachelor's degree qualification in education and/or education technologies or other significant discipline, or equivalent work practice
   » A post-graduate certificate in teaching and learning preferred, or equivalent work practice
   » At least 2 years teaching practice preferred, ideally in a gallery or museum environment
   » Established networks in the education and/or technology sectors
   » Preferably with current NZ teacher registration
   » An knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and biculturalism as they relate to the Gallery and its programmes
   » knowledge and knowledge of supporting Pacific perspectives (identity, language and culture), principles and practices, and capability to apply these all over the programme
   » Advanced knowledge and expertise in educational technology and innovative teaching practice.
   » Strong interpersonal and stakeholder relationship expertise
   » Sound knowledge and practice in implementing learning programmes
   » practice developing strategic approaches to education programmes
   » practice with and interest in young people
   » Preferably passionate and knowledgeable about art and art histories

The Gallery Educator, Raranga Matihiko is a fixed term 40 hour a week position, till 31 Dec 2021
You will work standard business hours, though you will need to be available for evening events and projects as required.
