Are you an practiced hospitality professional, wanting a function that is embedded in a highly creative environment?
Toi Rauwh?rangi, the College of Creative Arts at Massey University, is seeking two extraordinary kaimanaaki/front-of-house professionals to share this vital function looking after staff and manuhiri. You'll be the first point of contact for guests coming into the shared staff co-working space, and you'll be providing the manaaki and care that underpins all the amazing creative work we do.
The function is centered in our large open social/kitchen space that is at the heart of all the College activities and serves as our front door. You will be bringing your energy, empathy, and care to enhance the wellbeing of staff and visitors alike and be adept with the all-important medium of coffee.
Alongside providing barista services you will be ensuring guests (people like our industry stakeholders, embassy connections, iwi, artists, designers, musicians, staff and students) feel welcomed and looked after, our shared workspace is cared for, and our staff community is supported and connected. Your creative ideas for ways of connecting and supporting our people's wellbeing will be an important aspect of the function.
General office administration tasks will also play a part of your function. You'll need to be pretty computer savvy and ideally at an intermediate level with SharePoint.
You'll be a weaver and connector of people as we love cooking together, eating together, and creating together, and believe that relationships are what enable us to do the creative mahi that we do. We're a community of extroverts, introverts, and everything in between, and you'll be able to navigate all these personalities with skill and humor. Alongside our belief that creativity is the way forward in the world, we're also just a little bit obsessed with coffee.
You will be an practiced hospitality professional, highly motivated, a self-starter with initiative and have a passion for creating a lovely practice. Some event management, you'll help organise and work with internal and external stakeholders to complete event related tasks. You can work quickly and under many demands, love attending and supporting events, can connect with all different types of people, able to work both independently and within a team. It's important that you have an interest in art, design, music, film, and the creative arts.
To be prosperous in this function you will be able to take an active function in fostering the College's commitment to significantly embed Te Reo M?ori and tikanga M?ori into the everyday life of the College. capability to speak Te Reo M?ori would be an advantage.
We are seeking for two part-time staff for this function - about 22.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). You would either start in the morning or the afternoon. Start and finish times can be discussed at interview. You will have some flexibility to be able to cover holidays or illness, with additional pay provided in these circumstances.
