About our group and team
The Early Learning and Student Achievement (ELSA) group is a key part of the Ministry with over 300 staff. The group works to make learning and teaching significant, real and valued.
The Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate education excellence in early childhood education, primary and secondary schooling. The Awards highlights the combined effort needed to achieve improvement, equity and planned innovation and raises the profile of teaching as a profession which contributes to improving teacher supply.
About this function
Do you enjoy working on a project from start to finish, and watching Information technology flourish? Then this is the function for you! The Senior Adviser supports the Manager, Prime Minister’s Awards to prosperously coordinate and manage all processes involved in the delivery of the Prime Minister’s Educational Excellence Awards. This includes preparation for entry, marketing and communications, entry processing, judging, filming, website management and the Awards ceremony itself.
About you
We are seeking for someone who has previous events management and/or project management practice and has strong proven track record working with different vendors and internal and external stakeholders.
You will also offer:
   » knowledge and practice working with a range of communications formats such as videos and websites
   » previous government practice or education sector practice (desirable)
   » the capability to manage, maintain and keep budgets for the project on track
   » excellent time management, resilience, and drive to get the job done
   » strong attention to detail and the capability to work independently
   » astute risk management
   » a great work ethic and high level of professionalism
   » excellent communication expertise and the capability to work collaboratively with others to deliver results
   » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
