This is your opportunity to join our dynamic team as we embark on a new chapter for the Sarjeant Gallery and its continuing Redevelopment. The Gallery is currently operating from a central city location where our busy and vibrant programme of exhibitions and events continues. Our temporary site also provides storage for our nationally significant collection which comprises of over 8,000 items spanning four centuries of European and New Zealand art history. About the function This permanent full-time position is responsible for: » Exhibition installation » Fabrication of storage solutions, object supports and display furniture » Matting and framing » Carpentry and painting » Management of the workshop and A/V equipment Skills & practice » Proven capability to plan ahead, follow instructions, meet deadlines and develop effective solutions to technical problems » Demonstrated carpentry skills and technical skills working with a wide variety of equipment and multi-media » High level of competency with artwork matting and handling » Relationship management skills and capability to work effectively with contractors, suppliers, artists and members of the public » Proven track record in continuous improvement and delivering exceptional results » Functional expertise of an art gallery and/or museum environment Benefits Looking after our people is important to us.
