The Canterbury Health System is a world leader in the delivery of integrated health care. Our main focus is placing people (staff and patients alike) at the centre of everything we do. The Team The Canterbury Regional Forensic Mental Health Service provides forensic mental health services to a population of approximately 700,000 within the South Island of New Zealand. A full range of forensic mental health treatment settings are available, including medium secure and rehabilitation inpatient facilities located at Hillmorton Hospital and within the wider community, alongside the Courts, Probation, Department of Corrections and Outreach Services. Our Regional Forensic Mental Health Service provides consultation and liaison to Nelson, Marlborough, the West Coast and South Canterbury. Two secure units and one open rehabilitation unit provide 35 inpatient beds. The Service works closely with a community-located service which is funded to provide a high level of clinical input and support for people as they transition to the wider community. The function The Clinical Director, Forensic Psychiatry is responsible for overall professional leadership abilities of all medical staff in the department. The Medical team comprises 6.5 FTE as well as a Registrar and Trainee Intern in the team. You will work in partnership with the Nursing Director and the Service leadership abilities team to ensure the best outcome for our consumers. As Clinical Director you will bring a focus on best clinical practice, cost effective management and effective utilisation of the medical workforce. This is permanent function where you will be 0.5FTE Clinical Director and 0.5FTE Senior Medical agent.
