Some farm work can be quite physical but it’s extremely compensateing. A number of tasks involve manual work including lifting, bending and twisting so workers need to be fit and healthy as well as have a positive attitude. Most of the work is undertaken in supervised teams or groups. Our polytunnels also create a more pleasant working environment. Being undercover protects our workers from the elements and we grow on tables so we don’t have work at ground-level. JOB DESCRIPTION * To pick / pack berries into punnets then checked weighed and lidded to the quality and quantity standards stipulated by management. KEY INFORMATION * A number of jobs, including picking, are paid on an hourly rate. Quality is very important at Kaipaki Berries and we have company targets. We also set a target for the quantity of berries picked each day. * As fruit needs to be picked in the cooler part of the day, so work will often start early in the morning. We usually harvest six or seven days a week, but this does vary depending on the weather, crop timing and market demand. Skills:
