The Basement wh?nau is excited to share that a senior leadership abilities function within our team has become available. Together we are currently seeking a candidate for the function of Operations Manager. This is an opportunity for the right person to advance the future of Basement Theatre and make a strong contribution to the live performance scene here in T?maki Makaurau.

This is a permanent function set at 32 hours per week, at a rate of $38 an hour; the equivalent to $79K.00 pro rata. They will report to the Executive Director and will also work closely with the Programme Manager, Marketing Manager, Creative Producer, Bookkeeper, Bar & Front of House Manager and Technical & Facilities Manager. The ideal start date is Monday 12th December.

The core purpose of the Operations Manager is to supervise and manage Basement Theatre's financial, administrative and operational systems, with the goal of ensuring the smooth running of the organisation. This includes superviseing all key organisational budgets and financial processes, organisational timelines, funding applications and reports, accounts and payroll, human resources, Information technology and security, building leases, and organisational compliance such as Health and Safety, to a high standard. They will also provide support to the Executive Director and supervision to the Bar Manager and Rehearsal Space administrator. They will of course have a genuine passion for live performance, will enjoy working collaboratively in an intimate small team setting, and will understand the importance of centering and nurturing relationships in a mana-enhancing workplace.

It is also very important to us that our team members hold a strong knowledge of what cultural and community safety means and looks like in the arts. Candidates will align with our organisation's desire to activate authentic cultural intersectionality, will hold community equity as a core driver in their work, and will confidently contribute to a work environment that aspires toward the bicultural partnership within Te Tiriti ? Waitangi.

In the Operations Manager function, you will have:
   »
At least five years of practice in a leadership abilities or management level function
   »
practice in HR, accounts, financials, contracting, and general business operations
   »
Knowledge of Te Tiriti ? Waitangi, strong cultural competency and practice working within bi-cultural frameworks
   »
Strong administration expertise and a high level of computer software literacy including Xero and Excel
   »
Effective systems management
   »
Project Management and multitasking expertise
   »
Excellent time management expertise and capability to effectively organise work to meet project deadlines
   »
Complex budget design and management, forecasting expertise, and managing cash flow
   »
Knowledge of grant application and reporting processes
   »
Proven practice in compliance including Health & Safety in a performing arts context
   »
Passion for the performing arts and creative industries
   »
capability to stay calm under pressure
   »
Strong relationship-building expertise
   »
practice in a hospitality and/or venue management a plus
Basement Theatre is a live performance venue in the central business district of T?maki Makaurau, established in 2008. We occupy the artistic underground and value the idea of pushing culture forward through brave, urgent and adventurous artistry. We are known for our commitment to platforming, developing and supporting emerging artists, and are a cornerstone organisation within the sector. We are a not-for-profit organisation, an investment client of Creative New Zealand, and are also currently funded by Foundation North and Auckland Council.
