About us
Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, creates and supports safe, healthy, inspiring and ICT enabled learning environments. EIS manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $19.6 billion, is responsible for the largest payroll in the country, and transports over 100,000 students to and from school each day.
The Operational Practice and Funding team provides support to our property delivery teams within EIS. We are responsible for providing staff with the tools, resources, training, and learning and development they need to deliver quality advice and assistance to schools and suppliers.
About the function
This is a Senior Advisor position located in National Office in Wellington.
You will support the Operational Practice Framework that drives continuous improvement, consistency, robust and sound decision making and best-practice in how Property Delivery staff provides services to support schools; as well as lead the development and implementation of operational policy across EIS.
We are seeking for someone who can manage and lead the process of contracting property planning consultants on behalf of the Ministry. You will work with the Ministry’s procurement and frontline property delivery teams and act as a conduit to ensure the tender a nd contracting of property consultants is managed on time. Part of this function will also be to identify and implement practice and policy improvements, and work with other EIS groups to ensure current practices and policies are aligned with our future state vision.
The purpose of this function is to:
   » Lead/support the roll out of changes to policies, strategies, and practices
   » Provide advice and support for Property Delivery teams in response to queries about operational policy and practice
   » Provide the ‘frontline’ perspective and input into key projects within EIS and the wider Ministry, championing and supporting integration and alignment

   » In-depth knowledge of service design principles, proven skills in the development of practice standards and guidance, and evaluation methods
   » Excellent written and oral communications skills
   » Planning and project management skills
