About the National Art School

The National Art School is Australia's leading art school with a progressive agenda for growth and a firm commitment to continuing studio located education. The National Art School (NAS) is accredited through TEQSA and offers Bachelor of Fine Art, Masters and Doctorate courses in Photomedia, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, and Printmaking; and core subjects in Drawing and Art History and Theory. The School is at the forefront of learning, creativity and innovative practice utilising its independent identity and distinctive studio-located teaching model to deliver exceptional higher education and research, scholarship and professional practice. Last year the NSW Arts Minister announced a 45 year lease and continuing funding to the National Art School as a State Significant Organisation (SSO) which has afforded continuing certainty of tenure onsite and the foundation to build a prosperous independent art school.
The position
Full time permanent position that provides direction and curatorial management of the NAS Gallery, The Drawing Gallery, exhibition spaces, curatorial projects, Graduation Shows and the Darlinghurst Goal Museum to deliver the National Art School's audience engagement strategy.
What you bring to the function
You will have tertiary qualifications in arts/curating/arts management and high-level practice in a managerial function of a gallery, educational, arts or cultural organisation. Your practice of long-term strategic thinking and planning in an audience focused environment will ensure your success in this function. You will have practice in facilitating public programs and in making art accessible to the public. Additionally, you will provide leadership abilities to the Gallery team on the realisation of a range of exhibitions and projects in partnership with artists, lending institutions and funding bodies.
