This Consultant Psychiatrist position is divided between the Wellington Central Community Mental Health Team (0.5 FTE) and Wellington South Community Mental Health Team (0.5 FTE). The prosperous candidate will be working across two teams located in our Wellington site on Adelaide Road. Our teams are multidisciplinary, comprising psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and administration staff. the team covers, central CBD and its surrounding suburbs of Wellington. The client group is diverse and they cover a broad-spectrum both socioeconomically and culturally. The teams are contracted to meet the mental health needs of the 3% of this population who have moderate to severe mental illness. WHAT YOU WILL DO Working together with other members of the multidisciplinary team, you will be providing high quality diagnosis, treatment and follow up of clients and will hold responsibility for the management of patients subject to compulsory treatment. Our Consultants also supervise psychiatry registrars and medical students and contribute to the on call roster for psychiatrists. expertise AND practice Vocationally registered in psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) along with significant training and practice FRANZCP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ You will also need to have a current driver's license. OUR ORGANISATION AND REGION The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Discapability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB's and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual discapability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. Wellington is New Zealand's capital city, a cultural and cosmopolitan epicentre renowned for its vibrant cafés, restaurants, international sporting and cultural events set in a beautiful natural harbour.
