About our group and team
The Education Workforce Group comprises workforce strategy and planning, contracts and implementation, and employment relations, including collective bargaining and pay equity. The group supports the sector to build a workforce that has the capcapability and capacity to deliver high-quality practice and can support innovation across the system to lift student achievement.
Within Education Workforce, the Business Support team is a small, friendly and responsive team that maintains good relationships across all parts of the group and the wider Ministry to triage requests, clarify commissioning, coordinate responses and maintain the consistency and quality of ministerial advice and communications.
About this function
As a Ministerial Advisor you act as the interface between the Education Workforce Group and the wider Ministry, bringing your skills in the machinery of government to bear on a fast-paced and vital function.
You will commission and coordinate Ministerial correspondence, Official Information Act (OIA) requests and Written Parliamentary Questions (WPQs), as well as Education Workforce advice, responses and material to support Estimates and Annual Review processes. You will also support and cover for the team’s Enquiries Coordinator as needed.
About you
this function is fast-paced and will exercise your powers of diplomacy, critical thinking and composure. Ideally, you will be an adept and agile communicator, able to absorb large amounts of information quickly and prioritise accordingly.
To excel in this function, you will have the following:
   » practice in risk management, information coordination and quality assurance
   » Effective and agile communication skills
   » leadership abilities attributes
   » Knowledge of the machinery of government and the Official Information Act
   » Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and/or similar software applications
