ACC’s Actuarial Services team is growing! Join our highly engaged team of actuarial professionals – whether you are a recent or near grad looking to start your career or have some practice under your belt, we want to hear from you.
With ACC, you’ll be supporting people in Aotearoa to stay safe by minimising the incidence and impact of injury, as well as helping them recover from injury if an accident does happen. And we need actuaries to help manage the Scheme in a sustainable way, so it’s fair and effective for New Zealanders now, and in the future.
About our team
We provide a wide variety of insight and advice, partnering with the organisation to deliver great customer results. Our services help ACC prevent injuries, effectively support and rehabilitate people if they do get injured, and ensure the Scheme is funded equitably and responsibly.
We’re a diverse team who enjoy working together to provide high quality services. We take pride in what we do, and equal pride in work-life balance, and in keeping our team environment fun and enjoyable.
What will you be doing?
ACC is a large, complex and constantly evolving organisation, and offers plenty of interesting development opportunities for actuaries, as well as plenty of opportunities to add value and make a difference to the organisation, and the New Zealand public.
The team delivers a comprehensive range of core actuarial services to ACC and external stakeholders. Information technology also does a variety of other work including assessments of the effectiveness of injury avoidance programmes, input to policy and other scheme design questions, input to wider ACC strategy, and involvement in project work.
The specifics of the function are flexible depending on your level of practice, as well as your interests and ambitions. Regardless, you’ll be accountable for helping the team deliver great insight and advice to enable sound management of the Scheme. And you’ll work with a wide variety of stakeholders within, and sometimes outside, the organisation.
ACC provides a comprehensive study support package to help you start or continue your journey through the actuarial qualification. This includes paid leave to undertake study all over the year, and financial support for study and exam materials.
What can you bring to the function?
No matter what your level of practice, you’ll be an enthusiastic individual who is committed to delivering quality services, both from a technical and a customer perspective.
You will demonstrate the following:
» Have, or be close to completing, an excellent tertiary qualification in actuarial science, statistics or mathematics
» Have exceptional analytical expertise including the capability to work with advanced mathematical and statistical models and be easily able to navigate computer programming languages like SAS
» Have excellent relationship management expertise and the capability to build rapport with your key stakeholders
» Be an excellent communicator, focused on providing actionable advice for your stakeholders
» Be continually looking for ways to innovate and improve processes and techniques to achieve quality results
» Thrive on variety and challenge and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
You are or will become an active member in the NZ Society of Actuaries, studying towards your actuarial qualification.
For graduates or near-graduates, actual or potential exemptions from actuarial exams would be an advantage but are not a pre-requisite.
