The Family and Community Health Policy Group works on a range of cross-cutting health and social issues including the health of disabled people, women’s health, child and youth well-being, primary and community care, ambulance services, homelessness, healthy ageing and rainbow health.
Ko t?u ake mahi – What you’ll do
Working within the Primary and Community Health Care team, you will play a critical function in developing and delivering high-quality policy advice that improves health results for New Zealanders
Whilst developing our people, you will have the opportunity to work on interesting and challenging policy issues, whilst being surrounded by a warm, collaborative and supportive team.
You will be responsible for drafting policy documents, legislation, guidelines, and ad hoc advice, while applying the full policy process, including regulatory impact assessment, health impact assessment, cost-benefit analysis, implementation, risk mitigation, and evaluation requirements. You will provide leadership abilities for projects and areas, ensuring well-planned work and high-quality policy advice. Additionally, you will peer-review documents prepared by colleagues and monitor and improve the quality of policy analysis and advice to ensure they meet statutory obligations and commitments.

   » Tertiary qualification in health or significant field, or equivalent practice
   » Thorough knowledge of public policy issues, including Te Tiriti and equity requirements
   » practice in designing work programmes and project planning to ensure timely and budgeted delivery
   » Significant practice in developing policy and working with a range of stakeholders, including briefing Ministers
   » Demonstrated practice in developing and applying analytical frameworks to complex policy problems
   » capability to build relationships and influence with internal and external stakeholders
   » Mentorship and support to other analysts to help them grow their policy expertise and deliver work programmes
