About our group The Early Learning and Student Achievement Group (ELSA) The Early Learning and Student Achievement Group sets the system-level learning for every child and student. Working between policy and customer facing functions, there is a significant political, stakeholder and public interest in the high performance of this group and the education curriculum and teaching workforce results we seek for New Zealand. About the Early Learning team The Early Learning team supports tamariki learning results across the early years by focusing on Te Whariki implementation in early learning settings and across pathways from early childhood education and ng? k?hanga reo to schools and kura. The team uses evidence to design resources, tools and services so that all children practice a rich curriculum, lgain and thrive. Information technology works with early learning stakeholders to co-design innovative approaches to achieve policy intentions, plans prosperous implementation strategies, and monitors to ensure a return on investment. About the function Reporting to the Manager, you will support the design, development and implementation of teaching and learning initiatives that support children’s learning progress across the early years. Culturally capable, you will draw upon your expertise of the early learning context and be well placed to provide curriculum thought leadership abilities. About you The person in this function will be passionate about the impact of the early years and keen to engage with the evidence about what makes the greatest difference. You will draw upon your expertise and practice in the early learning sector, specifically, with the early learning curriculum,Te Wh?riki. You will also draw on your expertise of the machinery of government to design, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-located programmes of work. You understand the significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and have prosperously supported educational success for M?ori and Pacific peoples in early learning contexts. You will have practice working at pace and manage set tasks and projects, as well as noticing pressure points and taking the initiative to resolve them. Your background practice and expertise contribute to the team providing high quality services to the sector and across the ministry. Your personal qualities include taking pride in producing written work and other forms of communication of the highest quality every time, and you have a proven capability to get the job done. You have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people. You will be well organised, self-managing and a clear communicator. You’ll be confident in a complex and changing context. Our ideal candidate will take pride in producing high quality work and will support others in the team to do the same.
