We have a great permanent opportunity in Te T?h?’s Data and Information team with a dotted line to ?tea a Rangi who leads M?ori strategy, policy and engagement. this function is located in Wellington in a large and complex Government agency.
The Principal Advisor M?ori Data Governance plays a key function in establishing and growing M?ori data governance capcapability across the Ministry, Te Arawhiti and Interdepartmental Executive Boards. You will champion M?ori data governance and sovereignty interests and aspirations, and in doing so provide advice informed by M?ori perspectives on principles, structures, accountcapability mechanisms, legal instruments and policies. You will contribute to supporting the Ministry to give effect to our commitment to honouring our responsibilities to M?ori through a data and information lens. You will be engaging with peers across government and M?ori data networks to keep abreast of opportunities and challenges in the data and information landscape that may need to be considered within the Ministry and partner agencies.

To be prosperous in the function you will operate effectively in the data and information management environment, providing leadership abilities and advice through a M?ori lens, you will have practice in the following:
   » Whakaaro M?ori – Knowledge and knowledge of Te Ao M?ori, Tirohanga M?ori and M?ori worldviews
   » practice in working with iwi and M?ori organisations
   » significant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, expertise and practice in governance, data and information
   » practice in applying an ao M?ori lens to data and information principles and standards
   » Significant practice in data and information principles and standards
   » Providing information management leadership abilities and advice
   » practice linking operational delivery to strategic priorities, in other words turning strategy into practical change on the ground
   » Writing governance papers, advising governance boards.
   » Able to read, understand and interpret complex documents, including financial, numerical and business information
   » Able to build and maintain a range of effective internal and external business relationships and networks and working with key stakeholders
   » Well-developed written communication and editing expertise
   » Able to take the initiative and work with limited direction in delivering one-off projects and papers
   » Analytical thinker who has a flexible attitude that enables them to turn their hand to doing what needs to be done
   » knowledge of public sector systems and processes, including accountcapability requirements and the use of performance information to inform decision-making
   » Communicating with a wide variety of audiences on complex issues
   » Providing intellectual and professional leadership abilities across and within organisations, including practice mentoring and developing junior staff and peers
   » practice researching, analysing and developing workable solutions to complex problems
   » Working with senior managers

You will join the Strategic Information team that supports information strategy and policy, information governance and enterprise data and information management. Information technology is responsible for strategic data and information tools and processes including, data and information asset management, and data and information assurance.
You will also have a dotted line with ?tea a Rangi, the group of the Pou Whakatere, Deputy Secretary M?ori – ?tea ? Rangi – is a multidisciplinary r?p? that incorporates the best of strategy, policy, capcapability development and relationship management to lead the Ministry in its priority to effectively partner with M?ori. This will enable the development of strategic and policy advice and initiatives, that are infused with m?tauranga M?ori, to inform and support quality decision-making by Justice sector leaders.

Ng? utu m? te kamahi – income range
The appointing income for this function will be between $100,221 to $141,488 located on expertise and practice.
