Job description

We are seeking for an Endocrinologist/General Physician to join our team of practiced Endocrinologists, Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Allied Health staff with a focus on the delivery of high-quality specialist care to the growing population across the Bay of Plenty.

We want to recruit a Physician who is interested to participate with us in developing responsive ways of meeting the needs of our growing population. this function is suited to someone who is enthusiastic around service improvement and working in new ways as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is committed to our Te Toi Ahorangi vision of equitable services and health results for M?ori. To meet this vision the ideal candidate will have practice in working in a culturally diverse setting and proven expertise in contributing to services which have evolved to meet the needs of patients, whànau/family and the wider community through an integrated service model of care. In particular, we want to further develop our Diabetes services, especially across the Eastern Bay of Plenty, developing novel and innovative service designs to cater for the need of our communities with particular focus on Màori.

The Medical Service has established functions to ensure manageable workloads between acute and specialist practice responsibilities for our Physician team The Acute Medicine/Endocrinology split is approximately 50/50.

In addition, we seek an individual who has the expertise to foster a learning culture across undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, with the support of the Bay of Plenty Clinical School and the University of Auckland. The school also provides clinical research opportunities.

candidates must hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council or be training in New Zealand and with nine months or less of advanced training remaining to achieve FRACP.
