Te ?huatunga a te t?ranga/About the function
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Advisor – Kaitohutohu Matua to join our Judicial Resources team within Te Kura Kaiwhakaw? (Te Kura). As the Senior Advisor, you will undertake legal research and produce resources to support judicial agents. You will lead the development of new content, working with key stakeholders including judges and external experts.
We are seeking for Somebody with the subject-matter skills to produce high quality legal content for Te Kura’s District Court Bench Book and Youth Court Bench Book.
The breadth of our work and the small agile nature of our team will give you lots of variety and challenge. You will have the opportunity to manage unique stakeholder relationships, including with judges and external subject matter experts.
If you are someone who has a passion for legal research, excellent academic credentials, and prior practice in, or knowledge of, the District Court and Youth Court, then we would love to hear from you.

To be prosperous in the position you will:
   » have a tertiary qualification in law, with significant post-graduation practice in legal practice or research
   » admission in New Zealand as a barrister and solicitor or eligibility to be admitted
   » have exceptional written skills and the capability to meet the given audiences’ needs, with a proven track record of completing and publishing legal research
   » be a proven communicator and be able to build trusted relationships across a wide variety of audiences
   » have a working knowledge of the judiciary and machinery of government
   » have strong project management and problem-solving skills, and an capability to work with multiple stakeholders
   » bring an knowledge of te ao M?ori, te reo and tikanga and a personal commitment to continuing to develop knowledge of, and in, these three areas
   » show initiative, resilience, and a commitment to working collaboratively in a small team.

Te Kura Kaiwhakaw? is the education and development arm of Aotearoa New Zealand’s judiciary. We develop and deliver events, programmes and resources that support judges and judicial agents at all stages of their careers. Te Kura provides continuing education and legal resources to support the judiciary of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Utu ?-tau/income
This position sits at a J7 level on the Ministry’s main income bands. The full range of the J7 band is $94,377 to $131,591. Your appointment will be between that range depending on skills and practice.
