Are you passionate about putting our tamariki and rangatahi at the heart of everything you do and say? Want to work in a value-located function where you can provide direct and significant support? Look no further, we are currently seekinga Kairaranga a Whanau to join our New Plymouth site – working in partnership with nga matua, whanau and caregivers to support the wellbeing of our tamariki and rangatahi.
In this function, you will be supporting Social Workers and Coordinators to identify whanau, hapu and iwi relationships for tamariki. You will also be developing and maintaining relationships with tangata whenua and other key members of cultural groups. You will be providing support in cultural capcapability and building these capabilities by working in partnership with the Site Manager and Practice Leaders. Another big part of your function will include designing and facilitating hui-a-whanau, especially prior to Family Group Conferences.
In addition, you will cherish and promote an knowledge of the process. You will be responsible in decision making processes and facilitating our tamariki and whanau in their development and the strengthening of their whakapapa knowledge.
To be prosperous in this function, you will need to bring your well-developed relationshipbuilding expertise in orderbuild strong networks with local iwi, marae and community. Another key attribute that you will be sharing is your good communication expertise specifically in Te Reo Maori both verbally and written. Proven negotiation and advocacy expertise at a senior level will be advantageous, as well as strong problem solving, and decision-making expertise.
What will you do?
   » Suppot tamariki and rangatahi to be well connected to their whanau
   » Support Social Workers and Co-ordinators to identify whanau, hapu and iwi relationships for tamariki and whanau
   » Organise and facilitate hui-a-whanau, especially prior to Family Group Conferences
   » Assist tamariki, rangatahi and whanau to be well prepared to participate in all whanau decision making processes
   » Where appropriate, support whanau to identify those within the whanau who may be able to offer care to tamariki and rangatahi
   » Support cultural capcapability building within the site, in partnership with the Site Manager and Practice Leaders
   » Develop and maintain relationships with tangata whenua and key members of other cultural groups
What will you bring?
   » Good knowledge and knowledge of te reo me ona tikanga
   » practice in working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, in particular Maori and Pacifica
   » practice in working with whanau, hapu, iwi and other cultural groups, to gather knowledge of whakapapa
   » Established relationships and networks with local Iwi, Marae and community
   » The capability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences and build and maintain rapport with others
   » The capability to apply the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989
   » Excellent computer, verbal, written and interpersonal expertise
   » A current, full, clean driver’s licence
