We're currently looking for a full time Workshop Carpenter, located in our Upper Hutt workshop, reporting to the Workshop Manager and working with a busy, high performing team. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of our workshop team and make a genuine impact on Aotearoa New Zealand's cultural community. In this function you will be responsible for building and maintaining scenic elements and staging for all new productions, revivals and external clients to a high standard of delivery. You will also provide support to the Workshop Manager in the effective operation of the RNZB store and workshop facilities. Some touring may be required. Day-to-day you'll be responsible for: » Carpentry and construction - building scenic elements which include Sets, Dressings, Furniture, Props and Stock items » Ensuring scenic elements are constructed to a high quality and on time » Supervising casual workshop staff to ensure a high standard of work is produced, with proper use of materials and equipment, and correct construction techniques » Operating workshop machinery » Driving company vehicles to collect and deliver goods and people as required » Participating in pack in and put as required » Complying with all RNZB health and Safety policies and procedures and keep the workshop free of hazards Who and what are we looking for? » practice in scenic construction » Current NZ driver Licence » Good expertise in reading and working with scaled CAD drawings » practice in working directly with creative staff » Welding expertise » Excellent communication and capability to negotiate workable results » Prop making expertise, working with a range of materials and techniques » Computer expertise - MS Office suit, CAD, CAM (for CNC machine) What we offer? » Being part of a nationally recognised arts organisation, making a significant impact on Aotearoa's cultural community » Ticket perks for our performances » Discounted gym membership » Investment in your personal career development and training How to submit the application: Sound like the function for you?
