The Translation Service is a busy office within the Department of Internal Affairs that collaborates across government to develop multilingual communications and materials for New Zealand's Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities.
We are seeking for an energetic and practiced Translation Project Manager to join our team. skills in multilingual cross-cultural communication, translating and translation project management are highly valued for this position, as are linguistic and written language skills. skills in Te Reo M?ori or a Pacific language are particularly valued for this position.
The Translation Project Manager manages a variety of translation projects to ensure that deliverables need client expectations as well as working on activities to promote and improve language services. This involves engaging and liaising with clients and external providers, accurately scoping projects, monitoring projects to ensure they are delivered on schedule, ensuring translations are of a high quality and preparing them for publication. You will also work collaboratively and effectively with other members of the team and with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders.
To be prosperous in this function, you will have practice working in the language industry as a translator, project manager or graphic designer, or will have worked in an organisation where multilingualism was the norm. You will have excellent communication skills, a proven track record for problem solving and providing excellent service to customers. You will have an knowledge of cross-cultural and linguistic issues and an in-depth knowledge of how high-quality translations are produced. Key skills include a strong attention to detail as well as practice editing, working with multilingual texts, print and web publishing, marketing and using tools such as InDesign.
