Perehipitiri?na ?whina – Presbyterian Support Northern (PSN) is one of NZ's largest not-for-profit service providers that provides social and health and discapability services for New Zealand's most vulnerable people, including victims of family violence, tamariki and wh?nau, older people, and those with disabilities and injuries. Operating across the upper North Island, their vision is ?A better life for everyone', which means they are there for wh?nau and communities, with the goal of transforming generations.
PSN is the parent organisation for some of New Zealand's well-known Support Services and has four main service delivery divisions, including.
   »Enliven – provides home and community-located support for older and disabled
   »Shine – provides a range of crisis and programme services to help victims of domestic violence become safe, and perpetrators to change their behaviour.
   »Lifeline – provides a 24/7 helpline for people experiencing distress, together with services to businesses and communities to upskill, support and activate community connection.
   »Family Works – provides social work and counselling support to tamariki and wh?nau, particularly in the school setting, around family violence and wh?nau resilience.
These services are offered to all in the community, regardless of age, background, or religious belief. PSN draws from its proud heritage of Christian values and continues to work closely with the Presbyteries and others, to be flexible and responsive in meeting the needs of wh?nau and communities.
Te ?hua o Te T?runga – The nature of the position
The newly created position of Pou ?rahi o Perehipitiri?na ?whina is a key advisor to the CEO and Board of Trustees in delivering on Presbyterian Support Northern's (PSN's) commitment to tangata whenua and to the principles, and intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
A pivotal member of the leadership abilities Team, you will work in close partnership with the CEO to weave Te Ao M?ori through every aspect of PSN's strategy, leadership abilities, and culture as well as operations and professional practice. Providing superb leadership abilities, you will set about building strategic relationships with mana whenua, mataawaka, and other M?ori organisations across PSN's rohe, and represent PSN at national hui and with key stakeholder groups.
Responsible for developing M?ori Strategy, you will provide expert cultural advice to the CEO, leadership abilities Team, Board and other People and Professional Practice Leaders. Weaving Te Ao M?ori all over PSN's organisational culture, operations, and service, you will actively support the cultural safety of PSN's Rangatira and kaimahi, including Kaitakawaenga and hauk?inga, through the provision of expert advice on tikanga, kawa and m?tauranga.
Charged with the co-development with the Chair of PSN's Professional Practice Advisory Group (PPAG), you will champion external practice advisors and support the continuing development and review of excellence in PSN's professional practice through a Te Ao M?ori lens. Implementing a stakeholder plan with the intent to lift its strategic engagement and relationships with M?ori will see you develop and maintain strong external networks, whilst ensuring PSN engages in culturally appropriate ways in all its relationships and interactions with M?ori.
Where appropriate, you will also act as media spokesperson for M?ori-related matters across all of PSN's services, and have the confidence to address a large demographic audience with decisiveness and resolve.
Ng? tino P?kenga/Wheako – Essential expertise/practices for the function
A tertiary qualification is highly desirable, as is practice working within an NGO, NZ health and discapability or social services sectors.
expertise, practice, and competencies required for application are to include:
   » Proven expertise as a senior executive and people leader to a level where you can advise, be challenged, and keep others culturally safe.
   » Have high levels of self-motivation, be self-confident and self-directing, with the capability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
   » practice working across traditional and social media and the skill set to conduct and facilitate public presentations.
   » Exceptional communication and interpersonal expertise and practice communicating with Boards, senior managers and staff, partners, and suppliers.
   » A professional and ethical manner, able to exercise a high degree of confidentiality.
   » Humility, and the natural capcapability to uplift the mana of others.
Proficiency in te reo alongside of an knowledge of the application of m?tauranga M?ori within workplaces is an absolute requirement for this position. Remuneration is positioned to attract candidates with a demonstrated skill base, and a high-level cultural competency.
