Please also see our listing for farm adjunct/2IC. The first job is a calf rearer, for which full training will be provided. In a team of two you will: give newborn calves their first feed of essential colostrum, feed all calves twice daily, monitor for and treat health problems, keep all equipment clean, drive farm vehicles to complete these jobs. We will consider you for this position if: you enjoy working with animals, are patient, are physically fit. This position includes accommodation in either a 2 bedroom house in Clinton (5 mins drive away) or a large caravan situated on farm. Iona Dairy is situated in Wairuna, which is a 5 min drive from Clinton (schools, dairy, petrol station, pub, takeaways, gift shops), 30 mins from Balclutha and Gore (supermarkets, The Warehouse, libraries, pools, restaurants, etc) and 2 hours from Central Otago. We have a young and friendly team of four on the farm. The calf rearer position is fixed term and will have the most hours available during August and September, and other tasks can be offered outside of these times to provide more hours.
