Te?Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pasifika Engagement Adviser to join the Pasifika Student Success team in the Office of the adjunct Vice-Chancellor Pasifika. We are seeking to appoint a person to this function that will be predominantly located in the Faculty of Law. This is a permanent full-time function.
Reporting to the Manager, Pasifika Student Success team, you will work largely with the academic and professional staff inthe Law faculty, and provide direct support to Pasifika students. You will undertake activities that increase the engagement of students, and ensure that Pasifika students are receiving all the support they need to succeed.
Your work with the Faculty and using established methods of holistic support practices, and academic support programmes, means that your work will contribute to both the achievement and continuing retention of Pasifika students in the Law programme. This is a high profile and high value function, and Victoria is committed to improving the results for Pasifika students.
This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) may involve regular evening work. This will be discussed and confirmed with the prosperous applicant upon appointment.
? p?manawa – About you
The Pasifika Student Success team operates in a culturally responsive manner to support both students and faculty staff, and We are seeking for someone who has high levels of cultural competence, preferably with an LLB degree. Your expertise of the challenge of studying at university, coupled with your competence in dealing with Pacific cultural issues will make you ideal for this position. Although a Law degree is highly desirable, other significant practice and expertise can be considered.
If you are a good communicator with flexibility, enthusiasm and desire to support the academic achievement of Pasifika students studying Law at Te?Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, this may be the opportunity you are looking for.
