We are pursuing to appoint an outstanding P?kenga (Lecturer) in Law to join Te Kaupeka T?tai Ture/Faculty of Law at the University of Otago, in Te Wai Pounamu, the stunning South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.
The function/ Te mahi
The Te Kaupeka T?tai Ture/Faculty of Law is committed to high quality legal education and scholarship and the integration of te ao M?ori into legal education. Information technology is seeking to make a full-time permanent (confirmation path) P?kenga (Lecturer) appointment in Law with a specialisation in M?ori law.
The appointee will teach undergraduate courses in M?ori law with a particular focus on M?ori Jurisprudence, te ao M?ori legal concepts and the recognition of Tikanga within the law of Aotearoa New Zealand. They will be expected to develop a research platform within these areas.

The prosperous candidate will have:
   » A significant postgraduate law degree or equivalent.
   » significant research practice.
   » Demonstrated capacity to teach at a tertiary level.
   » A strong commitment to the Faculty’s strategic goal of embedding te ao M?ori in legal education and an capability to contribute to teaching and learning environments that support engagement of students and staff with te ao M?ori, te reo M?ori and m?tauranga M?ori.
   » An capability to apply te ao M?ori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Kaupapa M?ori.
   » A commitment to developing collaborative working relationships with colleagues and supporting the University’s M?ori, Pacific, and Sustaincapability strategic frameworks.
