K?hatu’s functions includes M?ori Health teaching, research, service and M?ori student achievement in health. K?hatu is growing across its functions and activities and is seeking to enhance the range and impact internally and external to the University. K?hatu is also home to the M?ori Health Workforce Development Unit and other strategic teaching and research functions. Te mahi – The function We are pursuing candidates for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Hauora M?ori to be located within K?hatu. This is a full-time, permanent (confirmation path) position located in Dunedin. The prosperous applicant will have a passion and commitment to Hauora M?ori by undertaking innovative Hauora M?ori research, engaging in transformational teaching, and contributing to service within K?hatu. The position will be particularly involved in teaching within the Bachelor of Health Science (undergraduate and postgraduate) M?ori health papers but will also include supporting teaching into the health professional programmes. K?hatu has a diverse range of research and research collaborations, and this position will have many opportunities to not only develop their own research but also engage with and partner with other researchers. This position will include research that is centred within kaupapa M?ori values and contributes to positive health results for M?ori. K?hatu enjoys a positive relationship with M?ori students, wh?nau, organisations, iwi and hap?, alongside wide internal and external networks. This position will engage with our many networks and relationships to support K?hatu results. K? p?keka me k? wheako – expertise and practice We are seeking for candidates with the following attributes: » A PhD (Masters would be considered alongside significant clinical practice). » Kaupapa M?ori research practice. » Proficiency in te reo M?ori me ?na tikanga. » A capacity to work within the context of M?ori values including manaakitanga, whakawhanaungatanga and mana tangata. » Sound academic expertise including academic writing and referencing. » practice supporting tauira M?ori. » Excellent people expertise and the capability to work within a team. We are also looking for commitment to M?ori Development and the University’s M?ori Strategic Framework, as well as genuine interest in Hauora M?ori teaching and research.
