The University of Waikato commenced a Nursing Programme in March 2021 which is located in Te Huataki Waiora – School of Health and offers undergraduate and post-graduate qualifications including the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing (Hons), Post Graduate Certificate, Post Graduate Diploma, Master of Health Science (Nursing), Doctor of Health Science (Nursing) and PhD.

In keeping with the health needs of the Waikato region, a feature of the new programme will be a focus on primary health, rural and mental health. The programme aims to attract a high proportion of M?ori and Pacific students and the University has a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and our acexpertisement of m?tauranga M?ori all over all aspects of the academic programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of the Nursing Programme as Information technology moves into the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing and commences the Master of Nursing Practice in 2022. Applications are invited from registered nurse educators for a full-time academic position in the following areas: Nurse Practitioner and prescribing practice, and nursing practice and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The prosperous candidates will be registered as a nurse in Aotearoa New Zealand, and have an annual practicing certificate issued by the Nursing Council of New Zealand. They will meet the immunisation status requirements of the Waikato DHB and have a current area of clinical nursing skills in primary or acute health care.

The current income range for Senior Lecturers is $98,280 to $129,402 per year depending on qualifications, research profile, and teaching practice. If the prosperous applicant has a Masters qualification on appointment then there will be the opportunity to undertake doctoral studies.
