Job description

The Regional Cancer Treatment Service at MidCentral District Health Board provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and clinical haematology services funded by the MidCentral, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Whanganui, Tairawhiti and Taranaki District Health Boards, for their communities.

We are pursuing to appoint a part time fixed term (0.8 FTE) working 4 days a week as a Medical Oncologist for the Regional Cancer Treatment Service located at Hastings Hospital in the Outpatient Cancer Service for a 10 week period preferably commencing in September 2021 however the commencement date and end date of the 10 week period is negotiable.

candidates for this position must have, or be eligible for, vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as well as having demonstrated clinical expertise and the capability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.

The function will involve providing cancer care and the delivery of systemic therapy, supporting a team of specialist cancer nurses, supporting Multi-Disciplinary Meetings and providing HBDHB clinicians with advice on the management of the patient with cancer in the inpatient setting.

Qualifications required

To be eligible for this position you must either be registered (or eligible) with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have a specialist qualification in Medical Oncology that is recognised by the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as appropriate for Vocational Registration in New Zealand.
