‘Whakatipu Te Kakano: Growing the Seed.’
Reporting to DCE M?ori, this new function is responding to the growing need for M?tauranga M?ori in our community of employers and students of MIT. The M?ori Education Team, Te Tari M?tauranga M?ori (TTMM), have developed and delivered M?tauranga M?ori training (on campus and on-line) for students, businesses, organisations and communities and due to their success, We are pursuing a full time permanent Lecturer to join the team and deliver training for 2022.
As well as teaching, the M?tauranga M?ori Lecturer will have a function in supporting the DCE M?ori and the TTMM Team with advising, guiding, informing and educating about Tikanga M?ori processes as they happen on the marae and across the organisation. The function will provide support across MIT when required including promoting the use of Te Reo M?ori, developing knowledge of M?tauranga M?ori, working with Kaupapa M?ori and supporting the provision of Tikanga M?ori.
This varied function will draw upon your use Te Reo M?ori, your knowledge of M?tauranga Maori, your practice with Tikanga M?ori and your capability to work under Kaupapa Maori. You could be teaching courses online or on campus, marketing our programmes in the community, networking with key stakeholders all over the region or supporting the provision of Tikanga M?ori across the organisation.
As part of our TTMM team you will assist our the DCE M?ori with ensuring MIT’s obligations, responsibilities and commitments toTe Tiriti o Waitangi are being met.
 
The prosperous applicant will hav e:
   » A teaching qualification ideally in Te Reo & M?tauranga M?ori
   » practice teaching at tertiary education level
   » Fluency in written and spoken Te Reo M?ori
   » practice writing and developing M?tauranga M?ori academic programmes
   » Current Full New Zealand Drivers License
   » practice working with adult learners would be advantageous.
The diversity of this function requires you to bring practice working in a multicultural environment, and confidence to contact with a range on internal and external stakeholders. Some flexibility will be needed to teach evening or weekend classes if required.
