We are seeking for an practiced and talented public sector professional to be part of a dynamic team navigating some of New Zealand’s most pressing policy challenges and fostering system evolution.

The Office of the Deputy Chief Executive (ODCE) National Security Group supports the DCE National Security and leadership abilities team with business enablement, planning and performance, governance, risk and assurance, and strategic communications. We are a small and collaborative team working on cross-cutting issues. We offer a dynamic and agile environment for our staff.
TheChief Advisor Governancewill improve national security system cohesion as secretariat head for the Security Intelligence Board (SIB) and support the Hazard Review Board (HRB). There is a strong relationship management and advisory focus in this function. They will work to establish the internal governance and risk function within the Group. They develop and deliver a significant forward agenda with a focus on accountcapability, agility, and transparency across common security interests. In times of need they will be prepared to support the Officials Committee for Domestic and External Security (ODESC) function.

   » leading, coordinating and supporting interagency and external collaboration to support national security objectives
   » supporting senior decision-makers by providing quality advice about cross-cutting system-level issues.
Eligibility requirements : To be eligible for this position, you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
You must also be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15-year checkable background in countries where significant and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
