The Organisation

New Zealand Blood Service, a Crown entity, is a dynamic organisation with sole responsibility for collecting, processing, and distributing blood and blood products to the healthcare community in New Zealand. Information technology also manages broad cellular therapies and tissue banking facilities and is the national agency responsible for organ donation. Information technology is a complex technical manufacturing organisation that is clinically and demand driven, and safety and quality focused. The organisation is on an exciting growth and change journey and has a great Auckland located opportunity for a talented manufacturing professional to lead the national manufacturing function.
The function
The National Manager Manufacturing reports to the Director Technical Services and is an active contributing member of the Technical Services Senior leadership abilities Team. The position is responsible for driving the strategic direction of the manufacturing function and leading the national operational delivery for products and services to ensure they meet clinical demand, sales and operational planning (S&OP) requirements, and quality standards. This encompasses processing and accreditation across three manufacturing sites and cellular therapy and tissue banking at selected sites. Managing the national team and developing a high performing and empowered workforce is key to the function as is the overall performance and continuous improvement of functional operational service delivery.
About You
Ideally you will have held a similar senior management position in healthcare manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, scientific (patient focused) or a similar regulated environment such as health/dietary supplements and the FMCG sector where there is strong GMP compliance. practice will include managing large national or regional operations, developing and delivering operational strategy, process improvement, driving change management, project management, and leading large multidisciplinary teams. Strong S&OP process expertise and pharmaceutical GMP or medical GMP expertise is sought, together with strong commercial acumen, and intuitive leadership abilities expertise with the capability to empower, motivate, and develop high performing teams and improve operational performance.
