The West Coast of New Zealand has a population of approximately 30,000 with Greymouth as its hospital base. The WCDHB is implementing a Rural Generalist model of care. Exciting times are afoot as we work to develop our model of care in Te Nikau, our new integrated family health centre where GP; ED and hospital services are delivered on one campus. The Women's Health team is well supported by an incumbent O&G specialist and Adv. DRANZCOG rural generalist obstetrician, outreach FRANZCOG support from Christchurch; and a great team of local midwives. Approximately 220 - 250 babies are born on the West Coast annually. Christchurch Women's Hospital has given the WCDHB RG Obstetric model its support and is involved with continuing upskilling and credentialing of the RG Obstetric fraternity. The General Medical service has one incumbent Physician, and Rural Generalists who support this service in conjunction with support from Christchurch and the wider General/Internal Medicine department. We are working closely with Canterbury DHB to establish a transalpine service, which will support the incumbent Physician and Rural Generalist workforce to provide both inpatient and outpatient services across the Coast. This presents a great opportunity for generalists with an interest in extended scope of internal medicine across primary and secondary care to help us evolve the service. The WCDHB is specifically recruiting for practiced Rural Generalists with either a FDRHM or FRNZCGP, or evidence of recent practice in procedural Obstetrics, or practice in internal/general medicine. Minimum qualifications must include either being a FDRHM or FRNCZGP in New Zealand or FACRRMor a /FARGP in Australia with adv. DRANZCOG (Obstetrics) or other scope as required (Medicine; Mental Health, etc). The capcapability to work in Primary Care is a core value to this model and satisfactory references are a prerequisite. If you are keen on a lifestyle challenge, living in a naturally stunning part of the world, part of the team superviseing the deployment of a Rural Generalist model in NZ and have the above credentials then please forward your details and CV to us. This is a chance to see the coast evolve into a rural centre of excellence and we need you!
