KeteDivision of Arts, Law, Psychology and Social Sciences (Two positions) Ko wai m?tou? – Who are we? Te W?nanga o Ng? Kete, the Division of Arts, Law, Psychology, and Social Sciences (ALPSS) is a large and dynamic Division that includes Te Kura Toi the School of Arts, Te Kura Aronui the School of Social Sciences, Te Kura Whatu Oho the School Psychology, and Te Piringa the Faculty of Law. The Division also has two research institutes: Te Ngira the Institute for Population Research (IPR), and Te Puna Haumaru, the New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science (NZISCS). Ng? k?rero m? te t?ranga – About these functions These pivotal functions will be located within ALPSS with one in the Division office and the other in Te Piringa Faculty of Law. These functions provide a supportive learning environment for our M?ori students along with strategic advice to the leadership abilities team in relation to M?ori initiatives, including recruitment and retention of students. This will be located on the cultural imperatives of whakawhanaungatanga, manaakitanga, whakawhitiwhakaaro and teina/tuakana. The function will also work closely with the Division office and the University’s M?ori Mentor network. For additional information about Te W?nanga o Ng? To be prosperous in these positions, you will have previous practice working within or with M?ori organisations and be passionate about the development and support for M?ori students to be prosperous in their studies. Your effective communication and relationship building expertise, and expertise and practice of Tikanga M?ori are essential, with preference given to candidates with fluency in Te Reo M?ori. In addition to the above, you will have a significant tertiary qualification. Information technology will also be an advantage if you have previously studied at the University in ALPSS.
