Provide strategic advice and guidance on issues of significance to M?ori, driving relationships, representation, and response at a regional level, whilst influencing at sector level.

Zespri is the world's largest marketer of kiwifruit with over 800 people in New Zealand and all over Asia, Europe, and the Americas. As part of this future focus, a new function has been designed to enable M?ori leadership abilities and strong connections with M?ori communities and government.
Te ?hua o Te T?ranga – The nature of the position
The strategic purpose of the newly created position of Head of M?ori Alliances – Te ?poko o ng? K?hui M?ori, is to lead the implementation of a national M?ori engagement strategy. Taking the lead to ensure the strategy is well understood at all levels of the business, you will be critical in ensuring authentic leverage is applied to support M?ori communities to thrive. Furthermore, you will support M?ori growers to achieve their aspirations via the build of a more resilient, connected, innovative and diverse industry to deliver on their purpose.
Reporting to the Chief Grower Industry and Sustaincapability agent, this position is part of the leadership abilities team that delivers a transformational ?Grower practice strategy'. This strategy's aspirations are to enable the kiwifruit growing community to trust Zespri to connect them with consumers, lead them through change and empower them to achieve collective growth. Enabling tailored, informative, and seamless practices, you will be commercially astute, informed by reliable data, intuitive tools, and user-centric ways of working.
From a cultural connection perspective, you will set about developing and leading te reo M?ori and tikanga programmes cross organisationally, in order to deliver on the aim of infusing Te Ao M?ori into the core of the business. To facilitate this, you will develop an knowledge and competency within Zespri of Te Ao M?ori, before ensuring incorporation into decision making processes, strategy, and activities. Furthermore, you will support the build of cultural capcapability development, including coaching and mentoring senior staff to provide strong people leadership abilities regarding M?ori engagement and working within a M?ori context.
Strengthening partnerships, you will be supporting the Board and Executive to engage with M?ori stakeholders, ensuring robust and culturally appropriate consultation and engagement. Developing and implementing a M?ori stakeholder engagement programme and connecting with M?ori industry stakeholders, you will be leading engagement with key M?ori and Iwi stakeholders. Representing Zespri externally, you will be ensuring effective representation at appropriate levels, to key influencers. Supporting the Head of Global Public Affairs, in the build of strong relationships with central and local government stakeholders, you will plan to build consciousness of and support for M?ori growers and the wider industry.
Influencing where possible across regulatory, and legislative issues, you will be working in the best interests of the sector. Providing strategic advice and guidance on issues of significance to M?ori, you will drive collaborative relationships, representation, and response at a regional level. Ensuring mutually beneficial results for iwi M?ori and Zespri, you will take a leadership abilities function in how the M?ori strategy is connected to the Zespri brand – both nationally and internationally.
Ng? tino P?kenga/Wheako – Essential expertise/practices for the function
A qualification in a te reo M?ori related discipline is highly desirable, however this may be offset by broad, significant practice. Information technology is a requirement all candidates must be able to display a significant cultural competency, driven by their own personal mana and passion to bring about change.

   » broad knowledge of M?tauranga M?ori, practical application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, tikanga M?ori and proficiency in Te Reo M?ori.
   » M?ori leadership abilities practice and strong connections with M?ori communities, and government organisations.
   » practice in implementing a M?ori strategy and leading organisational change.
   » Developed networks and practice and knowledge of working with iwi and hap? across the rohe.
   » Senior level practice in the effective leadership abilities, influence, and management of internal and external stakeholders through advocacy, influence, and collaboration.
   » Can demonstrate working within constructive partnerships, by presenting clear and convincing rationale for ideas and changes.
   » Excellent communication expertise and strong interpersonal expertise including a demonstrated capability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
   » The proven expertise to empower and enhance the mana of others.
   » Excellent expertise in planning, organisation and prioritising with the proven capability to work and deliver under pressure when required.
   » The self-drive and passion to consistently seize opportunities for business growth and improvement located on business analysis and insights.
   » Robust business and commercial acumen with the personal competencies which see you able to influence and enable.
Your past mahi will have incorporated a senior corporate position where you have already gained considerable practice in the development and promotion of opportunities to ensure mutually beneficial results for iwi and M?ori.
