The response to the COVID-19 pandemic has put the health and discapability system in the spotlight like never before. Information technology has shown many of the strengths of our health system and the resilience of those who work in it. Along with the recently released Health and Discapability System Review, this is an exciting time to join the Ministry of Health and help to shape the future of the health and discapability workforce.
As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for developing high-quality and objective policy analysis and advice that will directly impact the 200,000 + people working within New Zealand’s health workforce.
In this function you will also develop project plans and frameworks that drive and deliver on the Health Workforce strategic investments in education, training, workforce development, and innovation. You will represent the Ministry at cross-agency meetings and be able to influence staff within the Ministry and across other Agencies through forming networks and good working relationships.
You’ll be able to demonstrate significant practice in policy analysis and advising on complex government policy issues. You will also be a strategic thinker who is able to look at the bigger picture as well as being comfortable in technical detail. You will be adept at influencing and managing a range of stakeholders and be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the machinery of government.
As part of the Health Workforce Directorate, we are stewards of the health workforce and we work in partnership across the health system to ensure that there is a diverse workforce pipeline that will provide the health workforce New Zealand needs now and in the future; and that the employment environment is both sustainable and adaptable to new and evolving models of care.
