The trees are laden and we require fit, hardworking positive people to complete the final step in the chain of orchard production – picking! Information technology is physically demanding work so you must be confident in your base level of fitness to apply. Any previous orchard, farm work or labouring practice would be an advantage but is not essential. The amount you gain may vary. This depends on how fit and strong you are, how suited you are to picking and how hard you work. Work is paid by the number of bags/buckets picked, with a base hourly rate of $20.00 plus 8% holiday pay. When the weather is favourable, we can work up to 9 hours a day and 9-10 days in a row. Days off may not be on a weekend as our harvest is determined by weather or variety maturity. A normal workday will be between 7.30am and 5pm. This may vary depending on workload. Fixed term work from approximately 6th January until mid-February. The start date may vary as we are weather dependant. If you are interested, there will also be an opportunity to be considered for employment beginning late February for either picking apples or working in our packhouse until end of May. Accommodation onsite can be arranged if required. The cost is $17 per night per person in a twin share room. Full facilities provided - kitchen, laundry, shower.
