The Arts Village Director is a key function which leads our busy community organisation to deliver events and activities to more than 20,000 people per year.

The function includes working with many stakeholders including funders, artists, volunteers, village residents, and other key partners to coordinate projects that make a difference through the arts. This is done through the development and delivery of an Annual Action Plan which recognizes and implements the boards' Strategic Plan and a genuine commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the Trust.

The Director leads a busy team of 7 staff members and ensures the wellbeing of the team, and that everyone has what they need to do their job and can develop within their function. We are led by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable board with 9 trustees currently, and supported by over 120 volunteers assisting us to make cool things happen.

this function is community-focused and ideally suited to Somebody with a background in the arts/community sector and real-world practice they can bring to this leadership abilities function.

What you will be doing:
Relationships:
   »
Contribute towards the development and growth of relationships with Te Arawa, continuing our kaupapa of embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of our organisation.
   »
Develop and maintain strong and transparent relationships with:
   »
community organisations
   »
our partners
   »
our key funders
   »
our stakeholders
   »
Manage relationship with council in conformity with the partnership agreement and lease.

Transparent relationship with the Trust through regular and thorough reporting on:

A core part of this function also involves managing responsibilities for our building and operational needs, and maintaining assets, security, and health and safety for those using our premises.

Marketing and communications

Manage the maintenance and development of the buildings within the historical context.
   »
supervise the day-to-day ?big picture' of all operational matters at The Arts Village, in line with all policies and procedures.
Strategy:
   »
Gain a clear knowledge of the organisational goals as reflected in the strategic plan and develop and recommend ways to deliver on these goals.
   »
Create and manage the Annual Action Plan and submit this to the board for approval and grant funding.
What We are seeking for:
   »
A strategic and innovative thinker with great planning abilities
   »
Well-developed interpersonal and relationship engagement and management expertise
   »
A proven capability to provide leadership abilities and development and to work as part of an inspirational team
   »
practice working within an arts or community organisation, able to articulate how art improves wellbeing.
   »
Qualified with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, in significant fields.
   »
Great written/verbal communication, and enthusiasm for and/or expertise in Te Reo M?ori
   »
You don't need to be an artist or artistic background to work at The Arts Village, but an appreciation for art and any creative interests of your own is a plus!

About The Arts Village: We are a non-profit community organisation operating in the Rotorua region from our central city location. Information technology is a unique and compensateing environment to work in, with staff often working collaboratively alongside the rest of our team, volunteers, artists, and other community members to deliver projects.

Once appointed, the prosperous candidate will work closely with their team to deliver activities & services that make life in Rotorua good through the arts. Our community is varied and includes people from all walks of life, and artists ranging from students/young artists right up to established professional creatives.
