Te Mahi / The function
We are pursuing to appoint either a permanent, full-time (confirmation path) P?keka/P?keka Matua (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer) OR a permanent, full-time Tauira M?t?mua Riteka Kaio (Senior Professional Practice Fellow) with skills in te reo, tikaka and m?tauraka M?ori, who can contribute to teaching across our Initial Teacher Education and Education Studies programmes. The exact nature of the appointment will depend on the prosperous candidate's skills and practice.
In this function, you will teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Initial Teacher Education and Education Studies papers. If appointed as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will also supervise postgraduate research students and develop your own programme of research.
The position provides the opportunity to work within a strong and forward-looking department dedicated to excellence in teacher education. If you are a New Zealand registered teacher, you may also visit initial teacher education students on practicum.

P?keka/P?keka Matua (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer)
As a P?keka/P?keka Matua (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer), you will be expected to actively engage in research. You will also be actively involved in the recruitment of new research students and, applying for and receiving external research funding.
If appointed as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, to be prosperous in this function you will have:
   » A PhD degree.
   » Demonstrated teaching practice at tertiary level.
   » significant research practice and a corresponding publication record.
   » New Zealand teacher registration and a current full practising certificate are desirable.
Tauira M?t?mua Riteka Kaio (Senior Professional Practice Fellow)
If appointed as a Tauira M?t?mua Riteka Kaio (Senior Professional Practice Fellow), you will be expected to contribute professional and m?tauraka-located skills to our programmes in ways that reinforce and promote inter-dependence between teaching, research and professional practice.
If appointed as a Senior Professional Practice Fellow, to be prosperous in this function you will have:
   » A Master's degree.
   » New Zealand teacher registration and current full practising certificate.
   » A significant professional qualification in teaching.
   » significant professional practice in English, bilingual or M?ori medium early childhood, primary and/or secondary settings.
   » expertise of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa is desirable for this function.
If appointed as a Senior Professional Practice Fellow the opportunity exists to pursue doctoral study at the College of Education, but this is not a requirement.
The College of Education particularly welcomes applications from M?ori and Pacific scholars.

This is a full-time (1 FTE), permanent position available from early January 2024.
The appointment ranges for this function are:
Lecturer ($90,902 to $107,300) / Senior Lecturer ($112,482 to $128,305)
OR
Senior Professional Practice Fellow 3 ($98,640 to $107,300), or 4 ($112,483
to $128,305)
