Lead Adviser – Early Childhood Group
Change and implement focus
Fixed-term or secondment to April 2022

At Te T?huhu o te M?tauranga – Ministry of Education, we shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. In the Early Childhood Group, we really care about New Zealand’s youngest learners. We are seeking for someone who shares our passion.
Our focus is to empower the early learning sector to meet standards, drive continuous improvement and accountcapability.
We do this through a mix of:
   » advice and guidance
   » support to regional staff
   » contracting of service providers to raise participation and quality
   » clarifying interpretations and determine impacts on new legislation
   » translating policy into practice.
Do you want to make a difference?
This fixed-term/secondment function will provide support to the Early Childhood Regulations and Planning team until April 2022.
We have a large implementation programme including the Early Learning Action Plan, Regulations Review and Regulatory Stewardship. We are also heavily involved in licensing practice capcapability development. Leading these significant pieces this will be your key area of focus.
We have great people who bring enthusiasm, energy and intellectual curiosity. We work in a fast-paced environment. That’s code for, there’s always a lot to do! So, you will also be good at planning, prioritising and juggling.
Among the expertise you will bring the following:
   » A tertiary qualification – we want someone who can think critically
   » Strong time management and organisational expertise
   » capability to connect with others, preferably some practice in an education context or working with M?ori providers or non-government organisations
   » capability to get stuff done, demonstrate judgement, consult and seek advice where necessary
   » Preference will be given to people with regulatory practice
