About our group and team The M?ori Education Group provide leadership abilities, support and advice across the Ministry to develop strategy and build capcapability to address systemic inequity, accelerate excellent results for M?ori learners. We prioritise strong relationships and partnerships, underpinned by m?tauranga M?ori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We also support Ministers, the Secretary for Education and senior leaders to respond to Treaty of Waitangi business and related matters. The Relationships and M?tauranga M?ori team lead the Ministry’s relationship management approach with M?ori Medium Peak Bodies, provide leadership abilities and advice on m?tauranga M?ori and work in partnership with Regional staff to support and deliver local solutions. About this function The Senior Advisor – Relationships and M?tauranga M?ori provides informed advice and delivery support to the Relationships and M?tauranga M?ori team to develop partnerships with M?ori and a Te Ao M?ori approach to the Ministry’s work The Senior Advisor will advise on other M?ori Education Group workstreams, as required, to facilitate an integrated focus on M?ori achievement The Senior Advisor – Relationships and M?tauranga M?ori will: » have a deep knowledge of te Tiriti | Treaty and its implications for the work of the Ministry of Education and other education agencies » Implement practices in the Ministry that give life to a Te Tiriti | Treaty partnership and provide advice and leadership abilities in Te Tiriti | Treaty policy, strategy and work programme implementation » Provide leadership abilities, information and advice to build partnership with M?ori, iwi, hap?, whanau and M?ori organisations to improve educational success for M?ori by M?ori About you You will be practiced in working from a te ao M?ori perspective to provide informed policy advice on performance and delivery to Senior Leaders, Advisors and Managers. As a Senior Advisor – Relationships and M?tauranga M?ori you will have a passion for developing partnerships with M?ori and practice bringing a Te Ao M?ori approach to influence change in the public sector. You need to be able to build sustainable relationships and partnerships across the organisation and have established relationships with iwi, hap?, whanau and M?ori communities. A passion for working in a kaupapa M?ori and Te Ao M?ori environment is essential. You have a strong knowledge of Te Reo, Tikanga and M?tauranga M?ori.
