The Te Tai Tokerau Psychological Services Office is located in Kaikohe close to Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF). Through the H?kai Rangi strategy we are endeavouring to deliver better results for Maori in our care.Te Tai Tokerau is one of two regions that have been selected to introduce the Maori Pathway programme; an initiative that has been co-designed with wh?nau, iwi, hap? M?ori, external organisations and individuals independent of Ara Poutama Aotearoa. this function represents a unique opportunity which will see you make a significant difference to the lives of the t?ne you will work with, as well as their families.
There is an emphasis on using kaupapa Maori and whanau centred approaches to practice here at Te Tai Tokerau. These approaches are aligned to Hokai Rangi and encompass the pathway from arrest and arrival to prison, through to reintegration back into the community. Tailored programmes and practice, training, tools and education while incarcerated are all important elements of this journey.
The Te Tai Tokerau Psychological Services Office provides services to the Northland Facility (prison), assessing and treating people in our care with an emphasis on psychological intervention. We also provide services to Community Corrections sites in the assessment and treatment of clients. Assuming a strong consultative function across Community Corrections sites, we further support our prison and probation colleagues in the appropriate management of high-risk offenders.In general, our work is on a one to one basis.
We are seeking for someone who:
   » Is reliable with strong communication expertise
   » Has a minimum of a Masters degree in Psychology and registration with the NZ Psychologist Board
   » Is able to demonstrate and commit to culturally responsive ways of working
   » Preferably has practice in or is seeking exposure to working effectively with Maori
