Survivor practices Service
Te Tari Taiwhenua will provide continued support to survivors of abuse in care through the Survivor practices Service from July 2023, following the closure of the survivor registrations and private sessions services delivered by the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.
The Survivor practices Service will provide a safe, supportive, confidential place for survivors to share their practices of abuse in care, to support healing.
Te Tari Taiwhenua will house and support the Service, which will be supervisen by an independent board.
Survivor practices shared with the service can be brought together to deepen knowledge of abuse in care and how to prevent it. In sharing their practices, survivors may also be referred to other services.
The Service will run from July 2023 through to the introduction of a new, permanent redress system in 2025.
Manager Engagement and Communications function
As the Manager Engagement and Communications you will be responsible for developing and driving the Survivor practices Service community engagement and communications strategies. Your strong leadership abilities expertise will enable you to build a high performing team to engage with communities, especially M?ori, Pacific people and those with disabilities, to educate about our services, gain community perspectives and provide specialist advice inhouse. You will also ensure the services communications plan is developed, delivered and monitored.
To be prosperous in this function you will have:
   » An broad and prosperous track record working constructively at the interface between community and government, forming partnerships of value and effective working relationships with others, including those with diverse cultures, disabilities, values or priorities
   » An excellent knowledge of community engagement principles and best practice models
   » Deep knowledge of, and established credibility within, the New Zealand ethnic community sector, or demonstrated capacity to establish this credibility
   » Knowledge of diversity and inclusion and social cohesion matters
   » Resilience, empathy and emotional strength, and show sound judgement and tact in dealing with complex and sensitive issues
   » Advanced capability to transfer knowledge of community intelligence into policy consciousness, and to actively work on community and policy linkages
   » Strong leadership abilities expertise with the demonstrated capability to develop and lead a high performing team
You’ll be joining a team passionate about supporting survivors of trauma from abuse in care. This is a new function giving you the capability to shape the Engagement and Communications function to meet the needs of the communities you are engaging with. You will also provide insights into the Service to help guide the development of the Service to ensure Information technology is best meeting the needs of Survivors.
