The Regulatory Policy team works on a range of cross-cutting health issues relating to regulatory systems including controlled drugs and medicinal cannabis. The team has a leadership abilities function in providing a regulatory policy centre of excellence for, and regulatory stewardship guidance across the Ministry. You will work with other government and non-government agencies, and the health and discapability sector to provide advice on improving results for all New Zealanders.
You’ll bring a thorough knowledge of public policy issues including Te Tiriti and Equity requirements, and have demonstrated success in developing fit for purpose policy advice in a dynamic environment. You can take on new information and apply policy frameworks to work under tight time-frames.
You need to be able to demonstrate a clear knowledge of how legislative and regulatory frameworks can be applied to deliver health results.
As a highly collaborative policy professional who can see the benefits of strong policy advice using data analysis and research to evidence advice, you bring with you a strong capability to take complex information and make Information technology significant across a range of audiences.
Your advice is able to be understood by a range of audiences, breaking down complex problems to come up with achievable and equitable solutions.
You will be comfortable sharing your knowledge and mentoring analysts to grow their policy expertise. You are open to learning from others, seeking opportunities through your work to further grow both your written and analytical expertiseets, whilst demonstrating core leadership abilities expertise when superviseing pieces of work with support from analysts.
At times you will be part of virtual teams across the Ministry and sector, including policy, operational and clinical stakeholders. You’ll understand the machinery of government and know how to collaborate to get things done.
While practice in the health and social sector is preferable, Information technology is your capability to provide great policy advice, your strong knowledge of core government and legislative processes and your practice working with Ministers that will see you succeed in this function.
