this function manages, develops and delivers a range of engaging talks, events and activities across the six sites of practice Wellington,with a particular focus on programming for, with and by children and young people.The person will be primarily located at Capital E.
This is part of a team which draws in diverse audiences to understand, enjoy and form a deeper appreciation of our practices. Each member of the team brings different expertise and lenses to their programming, and holds responsibility for different portfolios - Science, Art, History and, in this case, Children and Young People.
practice Wellington provides the city with world-class museums, cutting-edge contemporary art, the region's only publicly accessible space science practice and the only facility in New Zealand dedicated to tamariki and their creativity. Our visitor practices include: Capital E, Space Place at Carter Observatory, City Gallery Wellington, Nairn Street Cottage, Wellington Museum and the Cable Car Museum. We also support the operation of the New Zealand Cricket Museum.
This is a great opportunity to join a new and innovative team to make a vital contribution to creative lives of children and young people, working in close collaboration with creative practitioners, partners and stakeholders.
The prosperous applicant will:
   » Possess five or more years in-depth practice of producing creative programming by, for and with children and young people in a cultural setting
   » Possess a tertiary qualification in art, education, museums or galleries or an connected area
   » Have sound expertise of best practice in programming for and engaging diverse audiences in galleries, museums and cultural venues
   » Demonstrate a high level of practice and attention to detail in project management and delivery, budget and finance, and event management
   » Be proactive, can-do and reliable, with fresh creative ideas on how to develop a vibrant and innovative programme of ideas
   » Commitment to Te A? Maori and engaging Maori audiences in programming, projects and initiatives
   » Strong written and verbal communication expertise, with the capability to present in public and write a range of copy for a variety of audiences
   » Possess wide networks and contacts in the arts, education and heritage fields
We are seeking for a person who brings deep practice and broad expertise around developing, implementing and evaluating programming for, with and by children and young people, as well as energy, creativity and resourcefulness. This position will involve weekend and evening work and requires a clear Police Vetting check for working with children and vulnerable adults.
