Council is developing and strengthening our strategic partnership with Ng?ti Toa Rangatira and We are pursuing an exceptional Senior Advisor to join our team. This is a highly influential opportunity, one which will deliver strategy, sound advice and tangible results in pursuit of Council’s strategic priority of partnering with Ng?ti Toa Rangatira in all we do.

This is a key function which will support Council to deliver strong and enduring partnership relationships with Ng?ti Toa Rangatira, Te R?nanga O Toa Rangatira and local M?ori m?t?waka groups to achieve agreed stategic priorities. Not only will you develop and foster exceptional relationships, you will also thrive on delivery in a fast-paced and developing environment.
Key Job responsibilities:
   » Deliver the Council strategic priority – Partner with Ng?ti Toa Rangatira in all we do
   » Develop and implement Council’s M?ori strategy and work programme in partnership with Ng?ti Toa Rangatira and local M?ori m?t?waka groups
   » Provide expert cultural advice to the Executive leadership abilities Team, managers and staff at all levels within Council
   » Prepare and present reports to the Executive leadership abilities team, Councillors, Council and Council committees
   » This position may include the management of direct reports over time
All about you
We are seeking for a politically savvy senior advisor who has significant practice in the delivery of programmes to communities; including consultation and engagement skills with Ng?ti Toa Rangatira and local M?ori m?t?waka groups. You will be extremely adept at working in partnership with individuals, communities and government departments to deliver Council’s M?ori strategy and work programme.
Ideally, you’ll be joining us from Te R?nanga O Toa Rangatira, or you could be joining us from local government or central government. You’ll be excited at the prospect of being able to see the results of your work almost immediately. You’ll be energetic and organised with an analytical mind; your interpersonal skills will influence and engage others. Your strong relationship skills will enable you to work collaboratively across Council and with our broader strategic partners.
You’ll need to show us that you have the following:
   » Competency with te reo me ?n? tikanga M?ori
   » knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga M?ori
   » practice in the design, development and implementation of strategies, initiatives and programmes within a treaty partnership setting
   » Significant practice in the delivery of programmes to communities
   » Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
