We are pursuing Senior Advisors to join the Family Violence and Sexual Violence Operational Improvements team in the Commissioning and Service Improvement (CSI) unit. In CSI, we support the delivery of positive change in the justice system for a safe and fair Aotearoa.
The breadth and impact of our work will give you variety, challenge and a sense of making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders. These Senior Advisor functions will help shape participants’ practice of family violence and sexual violence court proceedings.
You will:
   » join a focussed work programme in a high priority area
   » bring your expertise to improve the practice of people affected by family violence and sexual violence
   » have flexibility and autonomy to lead complex, challenging and compensateing work.
The Ministry is supporting the Chief District Court Judge to implement a solution-focused judging approach in our courts, which includes family violence and sexual violence proceedings.
The Family and Sexual Violence Operational Improvements team will design, with iwi and stakeholders, best practice operating models for family violence and sexual violence proceedings in the criminal and family jurisdictions, to be implemented in all District Courts. We will also develop and deliver training to ensure workforce capcapability to provide safe responses to people affected by family violence and sexual violence, improve the information provided to participants, and improve the Ministry’s data and monitoring capabilities.
As the prosperous applicant you will have the opportunity to work with judges, senior managers and staff across the Ministry and agencies in the Te Puna Aonui: the Joint Venture on Family Violence and Sexual Violence.

To be prosperous in the function you will have:
   » excellent written and oral communication expertise
   » strong machinery of government practice, including practice with the budget process and business cases
   » an analytical approach, with practice working with others to deal with problems
   » project management and change management expertise and practice
   » demonstrated capability to work with complex material, stakeholder relationships, and ambiguity
   » preferably, some knowledge of family violence and sexual violence dynamics.
This is a permanent function, and we will consider fixed-term/secondment applications. The function is located in Wellington.

The Implementation team works closely with the Ministry’s Policy Group to implement policy and legislative changes agreed by Parliament. We work on a range of different issues that impact how NZ justice services operate day to day, and how participants practice the justice system. The mahi we do has a big impact on how people practice our justice system, often at one of the most vulnerable times of their lives.
The Family Violence and Sexual Violence Operational Improvements team is responsible for a suite of initiatives to improve the practice of participants in family violence and sexual violence court proceedings. The Ministry is an active member of Te Puna Aonui, the Joint Venture on Family Violence and Sexual Violence.

income range
The appointing income for this function will be between $84,366 and $110,172 located on expertise and practice.
