This is an opportunity for a budding administrator who is interested to use their organisational expertise to support the smooth governance of T?maki's home for independent performance-makers. The ideal candidate will be able to lgain quickly and juggle a few administrative tasks, they'll be organised and motivated, and will have the capability to listen, learn, think and contribute. They will enjoy collective decision-making and will understand the importance of centering and nurturing relationships in a mana-enhancing governance setting. They will also have a bit of a 'thing' for live performance. It is also very important to us that the candidate comes with a strong knowledge of the many communities that call our venue home. They will align with our desire to activate cultural intersectionality, and will hold equity as a core driver in their work. They will support Basement's developing practice in Te Tiriti partnership, and will understand the importance of being in relationship with mana whenua. The function The board Secretary works primarily with our Executive Director and Chairperson to plan meetings, which are held every 2 months. Responsibilities include: » Arranging the board agenda in conjunction with the Executive Director and Chairperson, and communicating a appropriate time and venue for the board to meet » Creating meeting minutes and distributing them post meeting » Distributing background information for agenda items » Ordering refreshments ahead of each meeting » Booking any travel for board engagements » Following up on action items Desirable qualities for this position include: » Strong communication expertise » capability to organise and prioritise tasks » IT savvy with the capability to quickly lgain how to use video conferencing software and BoardPro » A passion for governance This is a paid function that is allocated 5 hours for every board meeting, with meetings occuring every two months. The hourly rate for this function is $50 per hour. About Basement Theatre Basement Theatre is a live performance venue in the central business district of T?maki Makaurau, established in 2008. We occupy the artistic underground and value the idea of pushing culture forward through brave, urgent and adventurous artistry. We are known for our commitment to platforming, developing and supporting emerging artists, and are a cornerstone organisation within the sector. We are a not-for-profit organisation, an investment client of Creative New Zealand, and are also currently funded by Foundation North and Auckland Council. At the core of our strategy for the next 10 years is a response to the sector-wide urgency for artists to achieve equity and sustaincapability in their practice. Utilising the concept of sustenance as a way into our work, we look to investigate how our artists can leave our spaces with their creativity enhanced, their well-being nurtured, their financial means improved, and their kete full of new and unexpected resources.
