Job Opportunity: Learning Support:Job description:Job detailsOrganisation The Learning Connexion Closes 15 Sep 2021 Posted on 31 Aug 2021 Region Wellington Work type Part time employment Work classification Education & Development ShareThe Learning Connexion (TLC) is a tertiary school of Creativity and Art located in the Hutt Valley, Wellington.We are pursuing a caring and positive individual to join our school in an on-site part-time Learning Support function. The purpose of the function is to assist in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our tertiary students and, with an inclusive approach, remove barriers to learning. The Learning Support agent will contact withand provide support and training to students as well as delivery and support staff. The prosperous applicant will: » Develop individual learning plans for students with learning needs (these are students who have indicated on their enrolment form that they wish to receive learning support). » Help students gain study expertise, move through creative blocks, and/or improve their literacy, numeracy and language abilities. » contact with delivery and support staff regarding students'learning plans and support needs as required » Whenrequired, assist with enquiries and interview potential students to assess additional learning and support needs » contact with guardians/caregivers and external support agencies where appropriate regarding individual students and their specific needs and learning plan » Develop and deliver lunch-time learning expertise workshops to students » Develop and deliver staff training sessions for the purpose of knowledge and delivering to students with additional learning needs » Perform connected administrative tasks such as case reporting, updating database records and providing compliance data » Administer the Student Hardship Fund and provide support with StudyLink applications as Information technology relates to students with learning needs » Maintain professional boundaries at all times » Be an active member of the Student Services team, which works to help students achieve a positive and prosperous study practice In order to be prosperous in this function, you will have practice working with and supporting adults, at-risk youth and those with additional learning needs. You will be at ease communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds. practice within the New Zealand tertiary education sector would be ideal. A significant qualification and/or training is essential. Please note: This is not a counselling or social work function - you will refer students who require these services to the appropriate community agencies. this function is to be worked approximately 25-30 hours per week across 5 days - specific hours to be negotiated.
