To support our organisation in achieving its objectives and provide effective management and oversight of Council's risk and internal audit programmes We are seeking for an practiced Risk Management Adviser to work within our Democracy and Assurance Department.If prosperous in attaining this position you will hold key responsibility for the development, completion and monitoring of risk management programme, the engagement with and promotion of additional risk and assurance initiatives, strategies, policies and procedures together with the management of Councils’ internal audit programme and our insurance programme. Alongside this portfolio you will provide reporting on a regular basis to WDC's Risk and Audit Committee and co-ordinate the Committee programme and reporting, superviseing agreed initiatives. The function currently has one direct report with responsibility for co-ordinating support to Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs) and assisting with LGOIMA requests. We are interested in hearing from you if you are able to demonstrate you can fulfil the following criteria: » Strategic thinking with a broad insight into risk practices and principles » practice in analysis and judgement to make valid and reliable decisions » practice in assurance, compliance, audit, risk exposure and risk mitigations » Knowledge and knowledge of insurance principles using risk located methodology » Competent in internal audit planning, methodologies and reporting » Familiar with strategic risk management and assurance principles » Capable of compiling detailed reports and confident presenting recommendations » A results-focused individual dedicated to adding maximum value to our organisation » Sound political acumen and adept at building relationships » The capability to maintain a high standard of service under pressure » capability to develop a positive team culture and empower others to deliver outstanding results » capability to adapt to a way of working that embraces Organisational Culture and connected Tikanga Whangarei is emerging as a cosmopolitan centre with a community and business hub that supports a diversity of residents and visitors.
